The Week of October 21st - 25th , 2019 in the City of Waxahachie

Hello Neighbors!

Here is a link to the DRAFT minutes from various recent board meetings: Draft Board Minutes
The minutes are a great source to tell you what has happened and sometimes discuss things that may be coming up!

As far as our City meetings for this week are concerned, the only ones scheduled thus far are the City Council Briefing & Meeting on Monday evening.

Monday, October 21, 2019
—————————————
6:00 PM - City Council Briefing
Conference Room - City Hall

Conduct a briefing to discuss agenda items for the 7:00 p.m. regular meeting.

Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend. This meeting will not be live-streamed.
—————————————
7:00 PM - City Council Meeting
Council Chamber - City Hall

There is a full agenda this evening. Among the items that may be of interest to you are:

6: Recognize outgoing Board Members

14 & 15: Public hearing on some townhomes by Mark Thedford next to the Fire Station on Cleaver St.

16 & 17: Public hearing on a multifamily planned development at Garden Valley Parkway and Goodnight Lane for Senior Living. I’m not a huge proponent of multi-family but this land was zoned for multi-family years and years ago. Apartments could come in here by right, so I would rather have this age-restricted senior-living property than another regular apartment complex.

18 & 19: Public hearing on a request by the City to repeal the current Subdivision Ordinance and replace it in its entirety with a new Subdivision Ordinance.  It’s about 100 pages and you can read through the proposed version in the agenda packet.

20: Consider budget amendment for professional services for the City Hall Annex. This will be where the Architectural Salvage building is now. Please visit the Heritage Preservation Commission Draft minutes in the link at the top for more information on this project.

21: Consider proposed Ordinance repealing and replacing Chapter 6 (animal and fowl) of the code of Ordinances - which includes the requirement for dog owners to register their pets.

25: Consider changing the speed of North Grove Blvd from 30mph to 40mph.

Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting, but if you cannot,
you can watch it Live, by going to the following link starting at 7:00PM Monday evening.  http://www.waxahachie.com/government/city_council/city_council_meeting_live_stream.php

Monday - Friday: Early voting begins on 10 Texas State constitutional amendments AND, a proposed charter amendment for the residents of Waxahachie.

Here are two pictures of a trifold brochure I put together regarding the proposed city charter amendment. I will be voting AGAINST it.
